TARGET AUDIENCE: obstetricians, gynecologists, sonographists.

Ectopic pregnancy is still considered the main reason behind the mortality in the first trimester. But thanks to the advancements in the transvaginal ultrasound scan 80% of such pregnancies are diagnosed before the rupture, and more than a half of the asymptomatic patients are diagnosed only due to the use of sonography alone. Early ultrasound diagnostic not only lowers the level of maternal mortality, but also widens the treatment options of the physician.

Dr. Theodore J. Dubinsky is a Prof. of Radiology, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Washington Seattle, Washington. Having more than 34 years of diverse experiences, especially in diagnostic radiology, Dr. Theodore J Dubinsky affiliates with many hospitals including University Of Washington Medical Ctr, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Northwest Hospital. Dr. Dubinsky authored 113 peer-reviewed publications, published two books and contributed 14 various book chapters. Dr. Dubinsky has a particular interest in High Intensity Focus Ultrasound and is assisting the company in the development of a HIFU medical device. “Advances in fetal cardiac imaging”

Др. Теодор Дж. Дубински
(MD) Theodore G. Dubinsky

AIM: to show the modern advancements in fetal cardic imaging, technique of the procedure, 3D/4D echocardiography, clinical cases from lecturer’s practice

TARGET AUDIENCE: obstetricians, gynecologists, neonatologists, sonographists.

The congenital heart disease is the leading cause of infant morbidity from birth defects in 6 out of 1000 live births. But, since this statistic doesn’t include abortions and stillborn, the real number might be 5 times higher.
The diagnostics of the most serious congenital defects, however, is often the most complicated. The accurate prenatal diagnostic has indisputable clinical value, especially in those cases when the prostaglandine infusions are required for mantaining the patency of ductus arteriosus.
Fetal echocardiography is a specialized diagnostical procedure which is the continuation of basical fetal cardiac screening. The correct usage of the modern guidelines for this procedure plays a vital role in decreasing of the perinatal morbidity.

“Liquid biopsy in oncology. Difficulties and possibilities.”

Профессор Жан-Франсуа Лаэс
Jean-Francois Laes

Liquid biopsy is a method of non-invasive monitoring method of tumor’s genome changes. Using a simple blood sample you can determine the evolution of the tumor, the way resistance mechanisms are developing, the dynamics of the disease’s progression and also change the treatment’s tactic just in time.

The idea of the liquid biopsy is based on finding and analyzing cell-free circulating DNA and RNA (ctDNA, ctRNA), microRNA and exosomes, which are produded by the tumor cells.

Liguid biopsy depending on the tumor’s progression stage lets you determine the information like the stage of the disease and the heterogeneity of the tumor, the sensitivity and the resistance of the tumor to various therapy, the tumor’s response to the therapy and the way the resistance may develop, and also the underlying mechanisms of its development

AIM: to explain the indications for the liquid biopsy, the selection of markers and creating gene panels for the study, to show the principles of choosing between the traditional and liquid biopsy given the patient’s condition and tumor’s type, the interpretation of results and their use in practice.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Oncologists, mammologists, gynecologists.

Jean-Francois Laes, PhD, is a chief technological officer of the OncoDNA, responsible for establishing the OncoDNA’s technical vision and leading all aspects of the company’s technology development. In particular he is in charge of the development of the OncoDeep and OncoTrace products to provide the oncologist with a sequencing based expert system to analyze key mutations in tumors associated with better personalized treatment and non-invasive plasma based tests to monitor the residual disease and identify drug resistant sub-clonal populations. “Aneuploidy ultrasound screening. First trimester scan.”

Доктор Прашант Ачария (MD, FICOG)
Dr. Prashant Acharya (MD, FICOG)

AIM: To familiarize the listener with the technique of ultrasound aneuploidy screening, to showcase the methods of evaluating risks based on the discovered markers of the pathology.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Sonologists, gynecologists, obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians.

OUTLINE:

1. Discuss the principles of aneuploidy screening during pregnancy.
2. Examine the role of ultrasound, biochemical markers and cell-free fetal DNA.
3. Discuss in detail the most important soft US markers in the first trimester.
4. Discuss the most informative and accurate methods of screening and diagnosis for aneuploidy
5. Conclusions and recommendations from a highly-respected professor and member of ISUOG, Dr. Prashant Acharya.

The ultrasound aneuploidy screening is performed to estimate the risk of possible aneuploidy development, specifically Down syndrome. The screening test doesn’t confirm the chromosome status of the baby, but it evaluates the risk of having a baby with the Down syndrome and suggests the need for further diagnostic tests.
The ultrasound screening includes two procedures. First one is nuchal translucency test (NTL) or the first trimester screening scan which is performed between 11-14 weeks of the pregnancy. The second procedure is the anomaly scan or the second trimester screening scan which is performed between 18-20 weeks.
Ultrasound screening combined with hormone blood tests of the mother lets you accurately assess the risk of the Down syndrome development.

Dr. Prashant Acharya is a certified specialist in fetal medicine and high risk pregnancy care. Main areas of his practice are fetal therapy, fetal development diagnostics, pregnancy curation, fetal surgery and fetal anemia studying. Doctor Acharya was trained at Kings College Hospital (London, England), has a diploma in pelvic endoscopy (Germany) and is a honorary sonologist of Sheth K.M. School of Post Graduate.
He is a member of Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2008 (ICOG). Doctor Acharya played a key part in Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) as a chairman of Genetics and Perinatology committee (2012) and later as a vice-president of FOGSI. He is a member of the governing council of ICOG from 2012 and took part in more than 300 national and international conferences and courses.

«Hydrocolonic sonography of the colon and rectum. Advantages and efficacy.»

Dr. Oleksiy Bondarenko

AIM: to show the feasibility of using ultrasound of the colon and the advantages of diagnosing pathologies in real time.

TARGET AUDIENCE: sonographers, gastroenterologists, general physicians, oncologists, proctologists, surgeons.

OUTLINE:
1. Relevance of using ultrasound to study the colon
2. Technical features of performing a hydrosonoscopy
3. Sonographic anatomical structure of the colon
4. Aspects of diagnosing inflammatory pathologies and functional diseases of the colon
5. Diagnosing organic diseases of the colon
6. Conclusion, recommendations

HYDROCOLONIC SONOGRAPHY FOR EVALUATING THE COLON AND RECTUM
This is an ultrasound procedure that improves the diagnostic accuracy of colonic diseases using retrograde infusion of a solution which pushes air out of the colon and stretches it out. Using this technique allows us to painlessly diagnose polyps and colon cancer. By taking advantage of modern equipment and innovations, we can also identify diverticula, evaluate inflammatory bowel pathologies by determining colonic wall thickness, and differentiating wall layers over time (this is used as a criterion of disease progression and treatment effectiveness).

ADVANTAGES
Everything you need to perform this procedure is widely available. It’s easy to master because it’s simple, doesn’t require tedious bowel preparation, and is more cost-effective compared to CT and MRI.
There is no need to administer analgesia.
There’s no radiation exposure, making it safe for pregnant women. It gives us the ability to examine the patient in real-time.
Clinically effective for diagnosing colonic lesions.
Accurate evaluation of blood flow in the colonic wall, surrounding tissues and any lesions that may be present.
Hydrocolonic sonography can be used as a criterion of disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
Feasible as a screening tool, as an alternative to X-ray examinations and colonoscopy.

Oleksiy Bondarenko M.D., surgeon, proctologist, and a leading expert in the field of minimally invasive diagnostics and surgical treatment of pre- and retroperitoneal pelvic diseases.
Is currently involved in developing extraperitoneal surgery, a promising trend in medicine. Practicing surgeon (endovideosurgery) and proctologist in “Angelholm” Medical Center.
Having gone through specialized training and practice in the best educational institutions of Ukraine and Europe (Russia, France, Switzerland) the speaker’s competence in the subject is very high. Dr. Bondarenko has also developed and patented 9 unique methods for treating and diagnosing pre- and retroperitoneal pelvic pathologies. The author of 48 scientific publications.
